- NRFF Appoints Christiana Ileaboya Akpojotor as Safeguarding Officer
The Nigeria Rugby Football Federation (NRFF) has announced the appointment of Christiana Ileaboya Akpojotor as the Safeguarding Officer of the federation. In this critical role, she will be responsible for ensuring the protection and well-being of all rugby players—both junior and senior—across the country, while also serving as a key contact for reporting any forms of abuse, misconduct, or welfare concerns.
Akpojotor is a seasoned sports administrator with extensive experience in rugby. She is an alumna of Kwara Polytechnic and has made significant contributions to the sport as a rugby coordinator, former captain of the Rivers State rugby team—where she led the team to multiple victories—and a former player for Lagos State. She currently plays a vital role in the Nigeria Police Female Rugby Team as an assistant coach.
Beyond her contributions to rugby, Akpojotor is a dedicated public servant with years of experience in law enforcement. She holds the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police (W/ASP) and has undergone specialized training, including obtaining a Heart Saver eCard certification with Nigeria Olympic medical committee commission. Her dual expertise in sports administration and law enforcement makes her exceptionally suited for the safeguarding role.
As the newly appointed Safeguarding Officer, Akpojotor will oversee player welfare and serve as the first point of contact for individuals experiencing any form of abuse or harassment within the rugby community. A dedicated phone line will be provided to all stakeholders, ensuring that concerns can be reported promptly and addressed effectively.
